i failed my exam.. after talking to people i felt a lot better .. actually can take it as a joke now ...
well, may be you felt you're screwed up once you hand in your paper, however sometimes, it may not that horrible.
For instance, you may predict that you can only get about 70% on this exam, but the result could change your thought.
(such as the class average actually is only about 60% or even lowerXD)

For the encouragement, I would like to share a little story about myself.
When I was an undergrad, I was taking this control class. The final grade would be based on two of the highest scores in the three exams.
On the day of the first exam, I didn't wake up until 10 minutes after the exam. Once I made to the class, I was 30 minutes later and didn't study at all. There were five questions on the exam but I couldn't do any of them. So as expected, I made 14 out of 100 on my first exam. When the professor handed me my exam, she looked at me like I didn't know anything which was true at the time. After this exam, I decided that I should do my best on the next exam. I set my goal that I will make 100 on the next exam. After one month of hard work, I made 98 on the second exam, and 95 on the final exam. So I received an A from the class after the semester was over.
The story tells me that hard work = better grade. I should never underestimate any classes. I also learned that I should never give up.
Sorry about my English! This is something I'm still working on.

Jesus!
The sun is warm and the grass is soft, I would love to have a nice walk outside, barefoot in the park.
Instead, I'm locked in here, reading some long and tedious speech by an old German professor 60 years ago --- and after 6 pages, I still don't know what the hell is he talking about!

Sometimes, I had to read a journal paper for four or five times just to get the big picture. If I want to understand it in more details, I will have to spend hours and hours researching on related topics.
I would not recommend anyone to drop a class unless there is a good reason, such as scholarship requirements and etc. Occasionally some professors do curve the final grade based on the overall class performance, but I would plan for the worst case scenario. Life is tough, but so are we.
A good cup of coffee can last me for a good couple of hours. Works for me, and hopefully it will work for you.

oh, man. that's a conservative argument.
for my class, our professor don't curve that much even though the class average on the exam is usually about 40-50 out of 100.
also, for the coffee that you're talking about, is that a black, smoky drink that I used to drink before I went to sleep XD?
If you want to refresh yourself, green tea and red bull would be good choices

For some reasons, tea and energy drinks never worked for me. That's why I started drinking coffee. I think drinking tea is much better than drinking coffee or any types of energy drinks, because it is much healthier. So good for you 70, you are one of the luck ones.
40-50 is a very bad class average. I think if a professor wants to curve for the students, he would also have to look at the standard derivation in the grades.

Writing essays can be quite frustrating sometimes. There is writing scheme called five-paragraph scheme. In the first paragraph, you can write your main theme, and 3 reasons that support the theme. In the next 3 paragraphs, you can talk about each reason in more details. In the last paragraph, you can write your conclusion. This scheme can be useful for analytical essays up to 5 pages in English 1 and 2.
