some question about westen country christmas day

this is the first time i have the christmas day in westen country,and i don't know what should i do during in the that days.should i get some presents for the host family or only sent a card for them?which choise is better?if i choose the gift,must i pack them or not?i here been canada few days,and i don't know the here culture clear.


ps.is there any person in Nanaimo ,canada?

Well...it depends on youself...
If you would like to pay for the present and get them something to represent
your feelings, of course you can buy the gift~
If you just want to show appreciation, get them a card...
But from what I think...you can buy both~

well, for me xmas is not that spacial,i just say to every merry xmas thats all. cuz i'm poor, and i dont know for who ill give the gift

well, for showing your appreciation the least you can do is give them a nicely made christmas card,but if you just happened to have a few more bucks, y not use them to buy a nice present that's wrapped~

umm... I probably would buy a card... it's only a homestay host family isn't it?
just say thank them very much.
If the family is very nice with you, and you like that family, you could buy a present that the family can use... I don't reconmend you to by a present for each one of them though...
Anyways... usually a card is enough.

i am nanaimo(a small town near vancourver,and 20 minutes' plane to vancourver)
i am in homestay now,and the hosts are two very nice person.they are very friendly.
i think i'd better to sent cards.

I think if I were you I would surely buy a card and probably some small presents doesn't have to be very big or expensive. Just big enough to show your kindness and they will pay respect to you!
