I stared at the walls.

It is the walls of the jail. A jail that was built especially for the betrayers. And I was one of them who were trapped in this place, waiting to be destroyed.

“ There’s no way out…” I whispered to myself.

I knew I am taking a huge risk, and I knew I am going to die if they find out, but why does it have to be him?

(You knew the answer, Sherry. And don’t you dare fall for it.)

I remembered Wine’s warning.

Yes, I already knew the answer. And yet, I am not going to admit it. It was a shame.

Tick, tak, tick, tak...

Someone’s coming this way. I heard it. It was he, I can tell.

“Sherry, it’s time.” To my surprise, it was not the person who I thought it would be. Instead, it was Wine.

“Why, Wine? Why it is you?” I asked, not really expecting an answer.

“ You knew why, Sherry.” Came her reply.” You knew why.”

“ Yeah, right.” I twisted my lips into a forced smile, and stood up to follow her.

We didn’t say a word since, just kept on walking.

Several minutes later, we arrived.

The execution room.

Or in other words, the gas room. It was the room where all the betrayers end up in. This room had only one exit, and that was the entrance. The controls were outside the room itself; the executioners always set the time from there.

“ Sherry, we are all waiting for you.” There he was. Gin, the controller of the gas room.

I did not say a thing. I just ignore him.

I didn’t even move when he locked my wrist in the hook of the wall.

“ How many seconds have I left?” I murmured, without looking up from my sitting position.

“ Thirty.” He whispered in to my ears.” Enjoy your time, Sherry.”

I watched him gone, and then set my watch.

30…29…28…27…

I held my legs close to my body, hugging them tight.

20…19…18…17…

Memories started floating inside my mind.

10…9…8…7…

I looked at my watch. Tears now fell freely down my cheeks.

…Goodbye, my friends, my love.

Tick, tick, tick. The hands of my watch moved on towards the fateful moment.
