Full Score of Fear... Such an appropriate title for such a graceful movie. This Conan movie isn't for everyone--it really
isn't. This is a movie that takes the familiar element of Conan, and introduces a coherent story and compelling plot that's almost completely void of over-the-top action sequences. I'm sure that'll come as refreshing news to quite a few of you. As a movie, it's just a pleasure to watch, and even after watching it eight times now, I still love it. I hope you will too.
Of course, as is the policy with our anime releases, we don't include individual staff credits in the actual releases--we like to make it more about "the group" than about individuals, so people will say "Wow, DCTP did really great on that!" instead of isolating one person from the rest. Everyone at DCTP is the best at what they do from everyone I know, and I'm really proud to be associated with every single one of them. Although it's not the usual here, I would like to acknowledge them personally.
First off, Kani. She spent hours upon hours upon hours translating the first draft of the movie--this 1,800-line movie--all by herself. By now, she can probably recite most of the lines and name the music cues. Even after finishing the first draft, she continued to review the translation and ensured that it was as accurate as psosible. If it weren't for her major contributions, I'm confident we wouldn't be nearly as well-suited to make this release as we are today.
Can't forget Teppei. The myth. The legend. Also known by a number of other names, and his translating and forum persona "Prince Trom," he's been working on Conan for oh-so-many years now. Although I was the primary editor on this project, it absolutely wouldn't have been as good as it is now without his meticulous translation checking and copy editing. Even outside of forming the base script to what it is now, he did some of the most insane typesetting work I've ever seen--it's so good, some of you may not even realize it didn't come that way in the movie. Really, the guy's the best at what he does, and he won't settle for anything short of perfection. In addition to doing the translation assurance work, he also translated the ending song--and it's one of the single best translations of any song you'll ever see. Be sure to keep an eye out for it.
Naturally, I can't talk about staff members without mentioning my girlfriend, Techman. He (no, she), when not considering joining the circus to get away from my wacky demands, is really just managing the show. Ever wondered why you download those files from torrents so quickly? That's all his doing. He's also the primary encoder here as well, but I have to mention that he's solely responsible for making sure that we always have raws to work with--if it weren't for him, we wouldn't have been able to find a suitable person to record the HD raws for the TV series. Golf clap, everyone. Golf clap.
And now, the last major pieces to the puzzle, starting with everyone's best friend, GinRei. He helped me time this monster, and I'm telling you--this wasn't an easy task. We were both just zooming right through, and really, there's no job more boring than timing. We gave it a good fight, and I'm glad he was willing to go in with me. For those that somehow aren't aware, GinRei is the hero that does the manga nowadays, so if you've been reading the latest chapters over on the manga side of things, it's due to his and the rest of the team's great work. Lastly, I can't neglect to mention Meitei, who has yet again turned in some amazing karaoke work. You can always rely on him to just bring the house down, and I can't wait for you guys to see what he's come up with for the new OP & ED in the TV series.
Let's not forget the others, who helped ensure this was such a great release: Funnce, Kyuu, Sere, crash-kun, Ryu, and everyone else that I can't mention due to space constraints.
I also have to acknowledge our friends at APTX--the Chinese counterpart of DCTP, who you can always count on to produce outstanding work. We're proud to call them our partners, and we always look forward to working with them.
Don't worry, I haven't forgetten you guys. You all are really the best, truly. Every single person on the forums, from the faithful, kind-hearted, and cool posters to the spammers--you're all great in your own ways (Uncle Jd- doesn't play favorites ). The reason that DCTP keeps going is because of you guys, supporting us all the way. I hope that DCTP will be able to follow Conan right to the end, and I hope that you guys will be right there with us.
This is also long enough as it is, but we're not done with Movie 12 yet. Not even close. Starting tonight, those that volunteered to translate the movie into additional languages will begin working, and hopefully we can have the international edition out by Christmas. That'd sure be a nice, wordly (ha--get it?) present for everyone. Aside from that, the staff will be working as hard as they always have on the upcoming episodes (expect 515 & 512 soon).
Considering how long that was, the movie is probably already done downloading by the time you've gotten to this point. I mean, hey--it's Conan. And it's good Conan. That's all you need for a good time, right? I hope everyone enjoys the movie as much as we enjoyed getting it out to you. Oh, and I also hope to be around to post a similar message on this exact day, next year, for the 13th movie.
Thanks, to everyone,
Jd-
