我会选bleak
首先colorful is too general most paintings are colorful, and because ______landscape is a SPECIAL feature therefore, the adjective before landscape has to be SPECIAL as well~~而且一般没有听过有人用colorful来describe landscape的。。（纯属个人理解哦。。）
其次，distorted sounds weird when is used to describe landscape.. because if the landscape is distorted, then the painting must be an abstract but abstract painting doesn't necessarily need to let the viewers know what the painter is painting...
最后，fertile 很不合理，因为不能从painting看出一片土地到底fertile不fertile，而且artists tend to focus on the aesthetics of the painting but not the tinny binny little details.
选bleak是因为，这个词适合用来describe landscape而且this word implies that the overall feeling of the painting therefore making the painting SPECIAL..

B.colorful adj.华美的, 色彩的, 有趣的
C.distorted adj.扭歪的, 受到曲解的
D.fertileadj.肥沃的, 富饶的

so the question itself is ambiguous..
