I think it's fully dehydrated, when it is heated to a certain level of temperature.= = really? is that the reason? or r u BSing it?
i was gonna say that the hydrated ion of Cu2+ has the color of blue as it's physical property and that the non-hydrated one has the color of white as its physical property or the weak bonds between the Cu and H2O have the characteristic blue color..
but thats totally guessing

no.... :( but why does it change color?回复: English Chatroom (想练习英语的就来啊^^)
The color of anhydrous salt (CuS04) is white right?yes.. the questions is... why do such hydrates changes color when heated
回复: English Chatroom (想练习英语的就来啊^^)
Usually when you add water into anhydrous salt, you create hydrated salt, which has a color of blue.nicket chloride is neon green
CoCl2 is dard red
CrCl is dard green
BaCl is white...
they are all hydrates but with diff colors...
:014: i think i will be dead tmr....

i do not know...(heart break)there 's another one.
we know that in Cu2SO4.5H2O, four of five water molecules held per formula unit of hte salt are attached by coordiante covalent bonds to the copper ion. The fifth water molecule is attached to the sulfate ion, but by a different mechanism. Determine how a water milecule might be bonded to a SO4 ion.
