Does practice really make perfect then...?
Well, good luck. It does take some effort to keep up your English while living in a (almost) totally Chinese environment.

One suggestion to learn English is to watch some foreign movies with the original soundtrack. It really helps to improve your listening. Besides, it's not boring. To increase your vocabulary, you need to work hard to remember a lot of words. It also helps if you are able to spend some time reading English novels you are interested in such as Harry Potter etc.

Yah, watching English movies is a good way to improve on your oral English and listening comprehension. Yet the subtitles are also important. Try to get movies with English subtitles so that you can go through whatever you cannot understand through listening. The Chinese subtitles, well, I must say we can't guarantee their quality. So just stick to English ones if possible.

English novels, yah! They help in vocab building. More importantly, if you do try to learn the kind of sentence structure and ways of expression, your writing skills will improve!!

By the way, what is the relationship between this theme and the other named English chatroom?

When I just moved to US, I hardly spoke a word of English. But when I came to the State of California, nobody spoke English.

My advice to you is that whenever you speak English with anyone, always have this mentality, what do you get to lose.
