Ok question people...
What's the difference between "I'm sorry" and "I regret it"? Examples(senario-wise) greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
When you say I'm sorry you may not have been doing somthing wrong. You just feel sorry.
For example, If someone tells you his pet is dead and you feel sorry for him (which means you feel unhappy for him),
you say "I'm sorry".
It doesn't really mean you've done anything wrong but you expressed your unhappyness to him.
When you say say "I regret it./ I'm regret." You are referring to things you've done that is wrong and have been creating trouble to others, for example, if you've broken a promise.
Note that you're referring to a particular incident in this case, and it is a quite formal phase.
If it's something not too formal, rather use "I'm sorry". It is still acceptable but not too formal and make others feel strange.
Hope I can help you in anyway although it's been quite a long time since this question has been posted up. |
